SUPERVISEE IN CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK

Kathryn Kumar

LCSW-S

Hello! I'm Kathryn, and I'm honored to guide you on your journey toward self-discovery and emotional well-being. Over the years, my clients have learned to trust their intuition, rediscover emotional regulation through pausing, and gain the ability to step back and identify triggers without reacting impulsively. These skills have empowered them to show up confidently in their relationships, both with others and with themselves.

My approach to building rapport is rooted in genuine curiosity. Through open-ended follow-up questions, I strive to create an atmosphere where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I believe in infusing a touch of levity into our sessions, acknowledging the challenges of the human experience while also maintaining a balanced and measured perspective.

I am committed to providing a warm, safe, and judgment-free space. As you enter our therapeutic space, you'll find that your shoulders can relax, and you can be your authentic self without fear of criticism. My ultimate goal is to equip you with the tools you need to feel autonomous both within and outside our sessions.

I view therapy through a holistic lens, recognizing that our past experiences shape our present behaviors and patterns. Attachment theory has been a key compass in helping us navigate the depths of the human experience. By understanding the roots of our behaviors, we can work together to heal past traumas, reframe negative thought patterns, cultivate healthier habits, and enhance overall life satisfaction.

My expertise lies in working with young adults through middle adulthood. Having mentored and supported college students extensively, I find great fulfillment in assisting individuals during this formative phase of life. I've found that Integrative Therapy aligns well with my philosophy. I believe it provides the flexibility to tailor our approach to your unique needs, combining elements of CBT and DBT for anxiety management, as well as drawing from narrative, attachment, and empowerment theories for deeper exploration.

As we embark on this collaborative journey, my aim is to empower you with the skills and insights needed to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. Together, we'll work towards a future marked by growth, self-compassion, and meaningful connections.
