Resident In Counseling

Mary Rose Purcell

LMHP-R, MS

Hi, I’m Mary Rose.

I partner with children, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate experiences with ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and significant life transitions. My commitment is to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where each person can discover their path to healing, experience growth, and feel empowered. Together, we’ll explore effective coping strategies and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Life brings opportunities for growth, especially for children and adolescents navigating new situations at school, with friends, or during changes at home. It’s natural for them to experience moments of overwhelm, anxiety, or sadness. In our work together, I create a safe and supportive space where your child can express themselves, build confidence, and discover new skills for navigating their emotions. Through play, creative activities, and conversation, we collaborate to strengthen emotional awareness, enhance communication, and foster healthy relationships. Our goal is to support your child in feeling more understood and empowered, helping them build the resilience to thrive.

I often integrate talk therapy with play-based and creative expression techniques. These approaches can be particularly helpful for children and adolescents in building coping tools, emotional awareness, and communication skills.

My approach is grounded in these supportive frameworks:

  • Person-Centered Approach: I believe you are the expert in your own life. Our sessions will honor your inner wisdom and autonomy. Therapy is a collaborative process of uncovering your insights and supporting you in moving towards your goals at a pace that feels right for you.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Creating a safe, supportive space that honors your lived experiences.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We can explore how to understand and shift thought patterns that may not be serving you, fostering healthier coping strategies.

  • Mindfulness-Based Practices: I encourage present-moment awareness as a way to reduce stress, build emotional resilience, and strengthen the mind-body connection.

  • Play Therapy: I use creative, age-appropriate tools to help children express and process emotions in a way that is natural for them.

Together, these approaches create a supportive foundation for healing, resilience, and meaningful growth. I am dedicated to supporting individuals as they move toward greater balance, empowerment, and self-understanding. I’m here to help you build the skills and confidence to thrive.
